Is the Dragino LWL02 Water Leak Sensor Waterproof?

While the two metal probes of the Dragino LWL02 water leak detector are waterproof, the main body of the sensor itself is not waterproof. To ensure proper functionality, the metal probes should be installed pointing downwards toward the area where you wish to detect potential water leaks. This strategic positioning allows the waterproof probes to effectively detect any water presence while protecting the non-waterproof main body from exposure. 

How Is The Dragino LWL02 Water Leak Sensor Powered On?

The Dragino LWL02 water leak sensor is powered by two AAA batteries which provide 2+ years of operation in normal conditions.

To power on the sensors you need to:

1) Remove the base enclosure by pushing it up from the bottom and then add the two AAA batteries

2) The led lights will flash green, red then blue to signal that the sensor is on

3) The led lights will flash green for 5s to signal that it has joined/connected to the LoRa network. 

4) You can now click the base back on and peel the 3M tape to stick the sensor at its location. 

Can the Dragino Water Leak Sensor Be Used Outdoor?

No, this sensor is recommended for indoor use only. 

Does the Dragino LWL02 Water Leak Sensor Need A Wi-Fi Connection To Work?

No, the Dragino LWL02 leak sensor does not require Wi-Fi. This long range, lower power sensor connects to the LANA IoT Platform using LoRaWAN networks/connectivity. 

Can The Dragino LWL02 Water Leak Sensor Be Reused?

The Dragino LWL02 water leak sensor is designed to be reusable after detecting a leak, provided that water does not enter the sensor main body. If the sensor's batteries run out of power, you can replace them with two new AAA batteries, allowing continued usage. 

How Long Does The Dragino LWL02 Sensor Last For With Two AAA Batteries?

Two AAA batteries can provide the Dragino LWL02 water leak sensor between 2 to 10 years battery life.
